Wedding Cakes - Sep 27th, 2024

Open to Professionals and Open Division.

  • The cake may be of any shape and design and may be covered with sugarpaste, royal icing, butter cream .Cakes may consist of two or several tiers, or may be of a novelty design. 
  • Dummies may be used but should reflect what is possible in real cake.
  • Competitors should note that for simple ( non carved) tiered cakes no process pictures are needed however if entering a Novelty cake, the cake should be carved and shaped by the competitor and 6 process photographs should be submitted with step by step images. 
  • Decorative work may include any edible medium.
  • No SPIRITUAL / RELIGIOUS ELEMENTS ALLOWED ON THE CAKE
  • Competitors may model decorations by hand such as sugar buds, flowers, foliage, twigs, fruit, berries, nuts, fungi, animals, birds, fish, people and figures (normal or comical). Flower and petal veiners/cutters may be used. If wires are used, these must not be inserted directly into the cake. Cake posy picks or straws should be used to contain your wires.
  • The Exhibit maximum board / base / presentation size is 14” (35cm) square. But the display can be smaller than this in size.
  • Display drapes must be contained in the permitted area.
  • There is no height restriction.
  • There will NOT be a tasting Component.
  • Decorative stand not allowed.
  • No non edible ribbon should not be applied to the cake.
  • The cake base board or drum must be fully coated in an edible medium and covered with ribbon on the edge.

  • Interpretation of Theme – 15 Points
  • Originality & Creativity – 10 Points
  • Number of Techniques Used – 15 Points
  • Covering, Modeling, Flower Making Skills – 10 Points
  • Proportion & Balance & Use of Color – 15 Points
  • Number of Mediums Used – 10 Points
  • Overall Eye Appeal – 15 Points
  • Degree of Difficulty – 10 Points

Decorative Cupcakes - Sep 27th, 2024

Open Division

  • Present 6 individually decorated cupcakes, with edible decorations only.
  • There are no restrictions on the size of the cupcake, mini,standard or jumbo.
  • The Exhibit maximum board / base / presentation size is  12” x 12” (30cm x 30 cm) square. But the display can be smaller than this in size.
  • If floral wires are used, these must not be inserted directly into the cake. Cake posy picks , or straws should be used.
  • NO SPIRITUAL / RELIGIOUS ELEMENTS ALLOWED ON THE CUPCAKES.
  • This category will include a taste ( degustation ) element with 20% of the total points going to the taste element.
  • Only one recipe should be used on all the cupcakes.
  • For this you will need to bring 6 extra of the same cupcakes that are covered in buttercream icing only ( no additional decorations ) for judging as well as the recipe used to create them. Tasting cupcakes should be in a storage container or box with a lid.
  • You can use stands.
  • Please note :- Do not use expensive stands. Participants are solely responsible for their personal property. The event organizers and venue shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to your personal property .

Sculpted/Carved Cakes - Sep 27th, 2024

Open to Professionals and Open Division

  • These cakes must be entirely of Real Cakes.
  • 30% of the total Sculpture cake may incorporate Rice Crispy treats. Only 15% of the finished sculpture may include non edible armature.
  • Styrofoam may be used when absolutely necessary and in small percentage.
  • NO SPIRITUAL / RELIGIOUS ELEMENTS ALLOWED ON THE CAKE .
  • If floral wires are used, these must not be inserted directly into the cake. Cake posy picks , or straws should be used.
  • A minimum of 6 in process photographs must be presented on the table with the cake from the armature through the stages. The photos are mandatory, NO exceptions will be made. If process photos are not presented , your cake will NOT be judged.
  • No height restriction.
  • The Exhibit maximum board / base / presentation size is 14” x 14” (35cm x 35 cm) square. But the display can be smaller than this in size.

One Tier Wonder Celebration Cakes - Sep 27th, 2024

Open Division

  • These cakes must be entirely of Real or dummy cakes.
  • Decorative work may include any edible medium. 
  • NO SPIRITUAL / RELIGIOUS ELEMENTS ALLOWED ON THE CAKE

Healthy Treats - Sep 27th, 2024

Open Division

  • Your Healthy bakes could include either Cakes, Muffins or cookies or any other desserts. 
  • It could be one 8” square or round cake or 6 muffins or 6 cookies or 6 jars of desserts.
  • The Exhibit maximum board / base / presentation size should be 10” (25.4cm) square.
  • NO Frosting/ Decoration/ Unhealthy ingredients (eg: Maida/White Sugar) should be part of the recipe. However, some use of sugar in small amounts is permitted, as artificial sweeteners can also be viewed as unhealthy but, do try to use other substitutes for white sugar whenever possible. For example, agave syrup or coconut sugar.
  • A health focus must be obvious in all recipes submitted.
  • You would have to display the recipe in details with ingredients used and the process along side your bakes.
  • Display desserts in a clear, covered container or glass dome, as they will be sampled.
  • Please note :- Do not use expensive containers or glass domes. Participants are solely responsible for their personal property. The event organizers and venue shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to your personal property.

  • Number of Healthy Ingredients used – 20 Points

However, we reserve the right to cancel this category of the competition at any given point of time should the entries be under 20 Registrations. All the payments made will be refunded in full within 7 working days. This is being done to keep in a fair competitive spirit and environment, which would be only possible with a minimum number of Competition pieces.

Sugar Flowers - Sep 27th, 2024

Open Division

  • Present a spray or arrangement of 12 full bloom sugar flowers; it should include at least 3 different flowers of your choice. You can add berries, fruits, and foliage as desired. You must provide a list of the flower, fruit, berry and leaf varieties you are creating and place this with your entry.
  • The flowers and foliage may be wired and include commercial stamens, tape, commercial/homemade pollen, ribbon and thread. 
  • Your arrangement should fit in 12″ space.
  • There are no height restrictions.
  • The use of non-edible bases, vases, containers are permitted, as well as wires, stamens, floral tape, ribbons, etc. but all must fit in the 12“ space allocated. 
  • Cold porcelain and other non edible paste is not permitted.
  • Please note :- Do not use expensive containers or glass domes. Participants are solely responsible for their personal property. The event organizers and venue shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to your personal property.
